The change of neurobehavioral performance of submariners during submarine patrol

Abstract
|

|
A cross-sectional study was performed to evaluate the effect f chronic exposure to hypoxia on neurobehavioral performance of 13 submariners engaged in current submarine patroling.
Adverse effects on the central nervous system were assessed by two tests of Swedish Performance Evaluation System. These included additions and symbol digit. Performance evaluation were conducted during and after of submarine patrol.
There were significant changes in performance on tests of addition and symbol digit. This study found significant changes in the cognitive performance of submariners that could be attributed to conditions encountered during submarine patrol.
